Up and coming events in March

Saturday 13th March - BMC Youth Climbing Series Regional final: We are expecting about 50 young climbers from 7 to 15 years to compete in the final Peak area round competition. So there will be lots of keen youths bouldering, top roping and leading.

Saturday March 20th - British Junior Climbing Team: A 40 strong youth team will be here training on 13 specially set routes. Expect the Main 'Five Ten' lead wall to be busy where most of the routes will be.

New Routes on Slabs

The lads have been hard at it and both the Green and Yellow slab have been completely re-set.
The Green Slab boasts more new volumes to add yet another dimension to the climbing, and the yellow slab has also had some volumes added. As I type the lads have moved into the Furnace and are working on new lead routes.

Foundry Bouldering League 2009/10 Final Report

The final of the 3 round league produced an exciting finish with some very close scores in the under 13's with 1st male James Waterhouse (192), 2nd male Alex Hall (187). First female, Pareesa Tai (183) and 2nd female Mary Clerkin (179). The middle recreational category was by far the busiest of the leagues 3 categories with Luke Jones (391) in 1st and Ed Hartley taking the runners up slot (367). It was a close run for top female between British Team members Becky Hall in 1st with 304 and 2nd Alice Waterhouse (300), though Alice is also a Junior (u16) so a good effort. The top ten places had 5 under 16's in this category. The elite category was this this year won by British Bouldering Team member Diane Merrick, with Ed Morris taking 1st male.
Well done to all competitors. The prizes can be collected from reception, see previous post listing the prize winners. Image of Rob Napier - setter of the bouldering league.
