Welcome to The Foundry Blog....

Opening its doors back in 1991, The Foundry has been at the heart of the Sheffield and UK climbing scenes ever since. Almost two decades on, the centre continues to provide a world class environment for climbers, whether you're new to the sport or about to tick your first Font 8b!

The blog will keep you up to date with the activity and achievements that are going on in and around The Foundry.

Hope to see you soon! - Neil Bentley (Centre Manager)

Too Hot to Climb?

From what climbers are telling me today, it's just too hot to climb out in the Peak.

The current warm weather hasn't yet penetrated into The Foundry, so if you fancy escaping the heat (or smog?) why not head down for a climb.

We are open daily from 10am over the Easter Bank Holiday (see post below for closing times)

VARSITY 2011 Results

Victory went to Sheffield with a score of 496 against Hallams 329, infact Sheffield too a clean sweep of the top three overall scores (Martin, Alex and Daniel) and the top female score (Rosemary). A big well done to all the competitors, especially Ruth as the only female competitor from Hallam.

Problems had been set at a range of grades to try and make a fun competition for everyone including those who aren't natural boulderers, but with some fiendish ones to split up the top end climbers. All climbers were also entered into a raffle with the chance to win prizes sponsored by CragX.

It is sponsored by CragX Climbing Shop and The Foundry so if you enter you may win one of the raffle prizes just for being here!
